Activity: Make your own Hotspot glasses! Use the template, stick it to some card, cut out the shape, stick on the arms and decorate your own hotspot glasses. |

Activity: Pick a BUDDI Using just the BUDDI character flashcards, let your child pick a BUDDI for the day. Your child can try to use as many of the traits of that BUDDI for the day. At the end of the day, let them tell you when and how they used their BUDDI traits. How did it make them feel? Remember to use BUDDI Points to reward their efforts. To make it more fun, why not print out the sheet of BUDDI’s to colour in and the ‘I used BUDDI today’ chart. Let your child colour in the BUDDI and cut them all out. Then they can bluetack their BUDDI for the day on the chart for that day of the week. |

Activity: Create a weekly reward chart Use the sample chart or help your child to create their own colourful chart so that when they work out their total points in their box, they can write it on the chart to keep track of their weekly points and how many they have earned? |

Activity: Cheer Leaders Ask your child to make up a cheer leader routine for their favourite BUDDI – it really works to lift a mood and get everyone moving. Day BUDDI is a good one to start with for being ready for the day!! |

My children have set up BUDDI Points for Mum! My rewards are a glass of wine, they make me a cup of tea, chopping the veg, cuddles and lots more – the children came up with loads of ideas. I also get consequence points when I shout, nag etc., and I can be sent to the naughty step and take time out. This really helps me to calm down sometimes and it adds the fun back to everyday. |
Reply from Ruth & Angela: This is a wonderful idea. A happy home is the job of all of us and this sounds like such a fun way to make some of the everyday situations we face seem less of a drudge. |
Suggestion: BUDDI Points I don’t like taking consequence points, so instead we use a naughty step, time out or consequence jobs – where the children have to do a ‘forfeit’ job or activity like emptying the dishwasher, dusting, tidying their room etc. We also use 15 minutes less play and more tidy up time, 15 minutes earlier to bed etc. We find it works really well!! |
Reply from Ruth & Angela: Love your idea! We appreciate different things work for different people, adapt it to suit you and yours - there is no right or wrong way to use BUDDI 4Kids. |
Suggestion: Teachers I am a teacher who is often asked for help from parents on behaviour management issues. I have found it great to be able to introduce BUDDI to parents struggling with behaviour management issues who need help. Our behaviour management team talk the parents through some of the techniques to try. |
Reply from Ruth & Angela: Teachers have little time to act as child behaviour experts. Our feedback indicates that the kit is proving to be an invaluable resource for PHSE, parent teacher liaison and behaviour management for schools. |
Suggestion: I am a mother Who helps at my local school doing guided group reading and since finding BUDDI have introduced the signals and catchphrases to the children. The time out signal works really well and the kids respond very positively. |
Reply from Ruth & Angela: Great to hear how BUDDI is being used. We have certainly found that our children love the signals and catchphrases – it somehow makes doing the 'right thing' fun! |
I am looking for an effective parenting skills course. Can BUDDI 4Kids help me? |
Reply from Ruth & Angela: There are successful parenting courses available but experience tells us that most people find it difficult to commit to the timings and they can also be very expensive. Our home page gives suggestions on how to use the pack to create our own effective parenting skills course. |
I am keen to put up a poster about BUDDI 4Kids to spread the word to other mums at our toddler group. Do you have any that I can download? |
Reply from Ruth & Angela: What a great idea and we are delighted that you want to spread the word! Please use the link below to download either of the posters: [link to poster1.pdf and link to poster2.pdf] |
